Hotels and Lodges in Playa Conchal, Costa Rica - The Ultimate Guide

Updated: May 17

Playa Conchal, also known as Conchal Beach, is a beautiful white sand beach with millions of shells next to the towns of Brasilito and Playa Flamingo. Even with the abundant sea shells, the beaches are perfect for swimming with the tropical fish, tanning in the sun, and having fun in this calm atmosphere. The most interesting and unique feature of Playa Conchal is that it has turquoise water and volcanic rocks bordering Brasilito Bay. This secluded place is truly a paradise!

There are some small hills that you can hike to the top of to see some features. Those features include Brasilito Bay, Brasilito, Puerto Viejo, Punta Sabana, Mirador Conchal 360, Playa Conchal, Loros Island, Cape Parrot Beach, Mirador Flamingo, Playa Flamingo, Isla Plata, and so much more! Other fun things to do in Playa Conchal, Costa Rica are river tubing, ziplining, and horseback riding.

Las Baulas National Marine Park, also known as Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas, is only 5 miles (8 kilometers) southwest of Playa Conchal next to the town of Tamarindo. It covers 65 square miles and 167 square kilometers, with the vast majority of it being in the ocean and the Tamarindo Bay - it is a marine park, after all.

One of the main reasons why this park is one of the most visited ecosystems in Costa Rica is because this area supports the largest nesting colony of leatherback sea turtles on the Pacific coast of the Americas. Many female leatherback sea turtles will come ashore to lay eggs at Playa Grande (Grande Beach) between October and May. Some of Las Baulas de Guanacaste Marine National Park allows recreation, such as surfing, next to its white-sand beaches and dense forests. Like much of Costa Rica, these forests have an extremely high level of biodiversity. They contain 174 species of birds and other animals!

Las Baulas Marine National Park, Costa Rica has four beaches within its boundaries: Carbón, Ventanas, Grande, and Langosta. There is also the Estero Playa Ventanas and the Estero de Playa Grande, an estuary with mangroves at the mouth of the Matapalo River and San Francisco River Estuary. Next to the national park is Cabo Velas Airport.
