TownGate Memorial Park is a 16-acre park located in Moreno Valley, California. Not only does it have 2 large playgrounds and a baseball field, but it also has lots of gazebos, picnic tables with grills, and a large grassy area to play soccer and other sports. In this blog, we’ll talk about everything there is to know about this wonderful park.
Because this is such a popular park in Moreno Valley, there is plenty of parking. One parking lot is located off Arbor Park Lane and has 68 spaces and 3 handicapped ones. Another parking lot is off Elsworth Street. It has 41 spots with 2 handicapped spots. There is more parking in the neighborhoods if needed, but the parking lots should be good most of the time.
We’ll talk about the ballfield since it is one of the more popular things in TownGate Memorial Park. It is on the eastern side of the park next to the parking lot. Each dugout has benches and shade, and the parents have some bleachers to sit on (there may be some shade, but mostly not). Although there is not an outfield fence, there is a painted line 300 feet away from home base - this is the home run line. Lastly, the field has some stadium lights so games can happen after sunset.
The 2 soccer fields are next to the baseball field. One is for older ages and the other is for people a little younger. Young kids can still play here, but there may not be painted lines. When soccer games aren’t happening, you can play anything you want - frisbee is my personal favorite.
There are a couple dozen picnic tables, some with barbecue grills, scattered around the park. Most won’t have shade, but the gazebos will. If you want some peace and quiet, the gazebo on the southern side of the park next to Towngate Elementary School is great.
The sidewalks go all around the park and make for a fun walk. These trails add up to 1.19 miles. There isn’t much shade, though, so summer walks have to be in the morning or the evening. Bike rides are enjoyable, too!
There is a restroom and water fountains next to the playground and ballfield, but people have recently said that they were in bad shape. Hopefully, that changes when you visit. There may also be a bathroom near the playground on the western side of the park, but I cannot confirm this. It’s next to the TownGate Community Center and they hold lots of different events here.
TownGate Memorial Park Playground
We’ll start with the eastern playground next to Elsworth Street. There is a wood chip (mulch) surface, so bring some shoes! The playground has a rock climbing wall, a little spinner to sit on, ladders of all kinds, a tall slide, a second tall tube slide, monkey bars, and nets to climb on.
There is a ladder that goes to the top of the playground structure (20 feet tall) and has the tube slide! The swings are at the other playground.
TownGate Memorial Park Playground on the western side (off of Arbors Park Lane) has lots of slides, a rock climbing wall, games, a bridge, stairs, and so much more. It also has a soft turf surface, 2 traditional swings, and 2 bucket swings for younger children. This playground is mainly for younger ages, but it doesn’t matter which one they use.
This is one of the best parks and playgrounds in the Inland Empire. Have a fun day at TownGate Memorial Park!
